This model kit faithfully recreates the German Tractor RSO/01 in 1/35 scale, which was developed with all-new tooling from our talented design team after extensive research from the full-size subject.
About the RSO/01
During WWII, the RSO was developed as a German tractor to deal with conditions such as deep snowfall. A 70 hp 3, 517 cc V8 gasoline engine and 4-speed transmission were mounted in the front and powered the rear differential and sprockets via a propeller shaft.
The first production model RSO/01 had a rounded cabin of pressed steel sheet. 60cm width snow tracks could be fitted to get over bad roads. Production started in October 1942 and from next spring, the RSO/01 had the cabin floor raised by around 30mm to keep it out of the way of the snow tracks. The RSO found applications such as an artillery tractor and transportation of goods.
