2006 saw four manufacturers, BMW, Alfa Romeo, SEAT, and Chevrolet, compete for the World Touring Car Championships. With BMW having all but sown up the Manufacturer&39;s Championship in the second last round of the season, the final race brought close to an exciting finish to see which BMW team driver would claim the Drivers&39; Champion-ship. The season finished with BMW Team UK driver Andy Priaulx winning the championship by the slightest of margins, 1 point over BMW Team Germany driver Jorg Muller.
