From 1982 to 1985, Porsche enjoyed a virtual domination of world endurance races. The flagship of the company, the Porsche 956 was developed to meet the regulations of the Group C category. It was powered by a 2649cc six cylinder four valve turbo engine pumping out an impressive 620hp at 8200rpm, providing a top speed in excess of 350km/h. The Porsche 956 was used by many private racing teams including Richard Lloyd Racing.That team&39;s 956 took 2nd place in the 1985 24 hour Le Mans endurance race and sported the red and white body colors of its sponsor Canon.
