• 1989 Le Mans Contender
  In order to win the 1989 Le Mans 24 Hours Endurance Race, Nissan came up with the R89C Group C race car. It featured a monocoque chassis made from carbon composite material and was powered by a 3.5-liter twin turbo DOHC V8 engine which produced 800hp. The front-mounted radiator was enclosed in the sleek nose section and the smooth curves of the car&39;s distinctive body extended to the cockpit and tail areas. Nissan entered three of these cars in the 1989 Le Mans, where the No.24 car in particular was among the front-runners early on, but all three were eventually forced to retire due to mechanical issues.
