A Safe Return

• The latest addition to the Masterwork Series of museum quality finished models is the A6M5 Zero fighter "Zeke" - also known as Model 52. The model depicts a Zero which was shot down by U.S. fire in the skies above Guam in 1944. The pilot of the plane had been carrying a Japanese flag with messages from friends and loved ones, and this keepsake came into American possession before being returned to the pilot&39;s relatives in 2005. A photograph of the aircraft was handed over along with the flag, and was used to recreate the marking scheme used on this model. Of course, the form of the A6M5is accurately captured, while metal parts are used to depict pitot tubes. The fuselage has realistic weathering applied, and exhausts have been given expert burn-effect finishes to further up the realism.
