• Riding on the back of the two time 250cc and two time 350cc World Champion Kork Ballington&39;s riding skills, Kawasaki debuted in the 500cc Road Race Championship in 1980. He raced on a KR500 works machine which had an aluminum monocoque frame. It had a 498cc water-cooled square-four engine, and an independent rear unit suspension.
